My name is Amy McEntire and I am the Physical Educator at Glenwood Elementary. I received my B.S.Ed and my M.S.Ed degrees from Western Carolina University. I also have my National Board Certification. I have taught Physical Education for 24 years. I love my career and I hope that it shows! I want Physical Education to be the best part of my students' day!
Physical Education classes at Glenwood Elementary will prove to be an integral phase in students' physical and social development. I take pride in our program and am committed to giving the students the best instruction possible. I happen to believe that Physical Education is the most important subject!
The aim of the physical education program at Glenwood Elementary School is to develop and improve students’ personal fitness and motor skills by providing developmentally appropriate activities through purposeful, creative and enjoyable instruction. By incorporating challenging yet achievable tasks, the students will attain positive attitudes about physical activity and movement. It is our hope that these positive experiences will be carried with students beyond their elementary years and throughout adulthood.
In addition to the regular physical aspects of our program, we also aim to encourage and promote overall health through special focus units on nutrition, personal safety, and wellness. We encourage parents and caregivers to regularly ask your child about what they learned and what activities they participated in during Physical Education.
Please let me know if you ever have any questions regarding the Physical Education program.
Health and Happiness!
