We are quickly approaching mid year and the students are working on writing skills and reading skills. They are learning how to write a complete sentence and spell words phonetically.  Students are learning how to blend and segment words in addition to learning sight words. In math we are working on adding and subtracting, ten frames, and shapes.
After Christmas break we will start our DIBELS testing.  Be sure to study your sight words over the break. Read, read, read!
We hope you have a great Christmas break!

We have been working on our Apple unit.  The students have enjoyed doing apple math, making apple sauce, and apple pies!  They followed our recipe for making the apple pies, ask them to tell you how we did this.
We have a field trip planned for October 31st to Apple Hill Orchard in Morganton.  We will be sending home permission slips and information about this.  Parents are welcome to go.  You may meet us at the orchard.
Please remember that Friday is ice cream day.  Make sure your child brings his/her money for this. The cost is 75 cents.

Welcome to Kindergarten 2016-2017

We are off to a great beginning!  The students are doing a terrific job learning our classroom rules and our daily routine.  We have been focusing on learning to correctly write our names and meet all the Letterland characters!  Letterland is our phonics based program where students learn the letters and sounds that they make.  Each letter is associated with a particular character.  Ask your child to tell you about the characters that we have met so far!! Oh, what fun we are having!!!
